Open rhinoplasty: It is a major surgery performed to reshape the nose. The surgeon makes an incision to separate the skin, cartilage, and bone of your nose. This procedure enables them to view your nose anatomy before taking a decision on how to proceed with the reshaping surgery.
Closed rhinoplasty: It’s a minor surgery performed to reshape the nose. The surgeon makes an incision inside the nose to separate the skin, cartilage, and bone.
Cosmetic rhinoplasty enhances the appearance of your face and nose.
Non-surgical rhinoplasty uses dermal fillers to temporarily fill irregularities and dips in your nose. It corrects a small bump or can lift a drooping nasal tip.
Functional rhinoplasty: It restores nasal shape and functionality after traumatic injuries, cancer treatments, diseases, or congenital defects.
Secondary rhinoplasty: It corrects problems that occur from the first surgery. It is usually minor surgery but involves a complex repairing process.
You stay in the recovery room for 2-3 hours after the surgery and may be transferred to the hospital ward or allowed to leave for home the same day.
After nose deformity surgery, while resting in bed, your head must be raised higher than chest. It reduces swelling and bleeding.
A splint is taped to the nose for protecting and supporting the internal bandages. It stays for 1-7 days and is removed after your doctor’s examination. Further, you may bleed old blood and drain mucus after a few days of surgery, a drip pad is taped to the nose to absorb the secretions. You must regularly change the pad as directed by your doctor.
Avoid intense physical activities (jogging and aerobics) for several weeks after the surgery. Don’t blow your nose, else the stitches may rupture, leading to nosebleed, and running to ER. Wear loose clothes that can easily pull down without hurting your nose.
For maintaining oral hygiene, brush your teeth carefully without moving your upper lip. To keep healthy bow movements, eat fibre-rich foods. Use SPF 30 sunscreen on your nose to prevent permanent pigmentation and discoloration. Avoid wearing spectacles, instead use contact lenses until your nose is completely healed.

Lastly, additional surgery may be need because the previous surgery was flawed.
Healing is gradual and slow. It takes a few days to weeks for swelling to reduce. The expected result of rhinoplasty is usually visible after a year.
